Keld Heritage Centre

Keld Heritage Centre is located on the ground floor of the former Literary Institute, which was the stables and coach room for the Manse located across the courtyard from the Institute.

There are displays that tell of the rich history of the building, village and traditions of the dale. In addition there are also leaflets providing visitors with information on walks, local accommodation and events,

The Heritage Centre is also an official Coast to Coast passport stamping destination, with walkers calling in to add the ‘Keld’ stamp to their passports. The passports are a great souvenir and keepsake for Coast to Coast walkers, and they can gain a certificate if they present a fully stamped passport at the end of their walk.

We now also hold the title of ‘Dark Sky Friendly Business’ with the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority. Keld is officially one of the darkest places within the National Park and we now have a Dark Sky Light Monitor installed on the Literary Institute building providing feedback on the light levels in the night skies above Keld.

The Centre is open to the public between 08.30 am – 20.30 pm daily
